Dynamic concentration factor: A novel parameter for the rigorous evaluation of solar compound parabolic collectors

Solar-driven photoactivated processes have proven to be effective technologies for removing pathogens and chemical contaminants from water. Reflector systems are commonly used concentrate the sunlight improve their efficiency. Among them, compound parabolic collectors (CPC) most widely used, being concentration factor (CF), main design parameter, calculated directly geometry. This work presents development of a novel called dynamic (DCF), assess efficiency CPC as function solar vector (the beam angle depends on location, season year time day) reflective properties material. The DCF is defined ratio between incident radiation reaching receiver with without collector. different acceptance angles been ray-tracing tool validated experimental data actinometry reactions. Analysis results has done by plotting dependence versus increasing reflectivity indexes. facilitates estimation total available conduct process, whose reaction rate proportional photons in receiver. Global worldwide using time-varying local irradiation showed that, although an 90° (CF = 1) assumed optimal configuration due its ability diffuse radiation, use could more suitable some regions planet.
